Cardinia Shire Council is known for its progressive organisational culture and work practices. In 2014, it moved to an Activity Based Working (ABW) environment, in which staff gave up assigned desks in favour of designated activity areas which have increased collaboration and innovation.
Since making this change, the organisation has also significantly reduced its reliance on paper.
Now it has successfully launched its new website, built using Jadu Continuum CMS, a publishing platform that enables its staff to easily publish meaningful and timely, customer-centric content.
We wanted our website to be the preferred point of contact for our residents, and for it to be easily accessible on any device, in any place and at any time,” said Cardinia Shire Council’s Senior Digital Communications Officer Peta Levett.
“When deciding who our new website provider would be, we looked at many local government websites around the world and saw that Jadu was behind some of the best of them. They are powering sites that are very task-focused and based on the needs of the user,” Peta said.
“Our new website has been live for a few months and the response has been very positive. Customers are starting to turn to the website as their first port of call to perform tasks, find information and to transact with us. We knew we were on the right path when our first online animal registration was completed within 10 minutes of the site going live.”
“Our stats show that people come to the site and find what they need quickly and easily. Online service requests have increased significantly, and users have responded well to our increased number of online forms and payment options,” Peta said.
Cardinia Shire Council’s Customer Service team is also using the website to find information quickly when they are responding to customer enquiries over the phone, whereas previously they used a knowledge base which they’d developed themselves.
“It says a lot that the team is using the website as its go-to source of information,” said Peta. “There is now great synergy and everything is in one place.”
Cardinia Shire Council is Jadu’s sixth local government customer in Australia.
