Birmingham City Council, Europe's largest local authority serving over one million customers, has implemented the Jadu Continuum digital service platform to power its new re-designed website to better serve its customers.

The newly designed website was launched late in August following a six month implementation of the Jadu Continuum Web Content Management system. During the early phases of the project, Birmingham City Council consulted with its residents and stakeholders on the new design, which was delivered by Midlands based creative agency Spacecraft Digital.

We were focused on ensuring the platform we chose for powering birmingham.gov.uk was modern, robust and could scale to a city the sheer size of Birmingham..” Said Chris Gibbs, Service Director for Customer Services at Birmingham City Council.

Sheraz Yaqub, Project Lead for Birmingham said:

We think this project has shown that true partnership can be achieved through dialogue and one vision in getting the right outcomes for citizens. We worked as a single team and focused on the needs of our customers - putting our users needs firmly at the centre of every decision.”

Birmingham City Council blogged regularly about the project and held several user testing sessions, focus groups and eye tracking experiments to ensure that the new website design and structure, as well as the user journeys were  given as much attention as possible.

To be in the position of so much trust from Birmingham City Council, to power the digital hub for such a great city, is an honor indeed” said Suraj Kika, Chief Executive of Jadu. “The close partnership we have developed with the teams at Birmingham, particularly in customer services, will mean there will be a lot more coming. We are 100% invested in keeping Birmingham City one of the most important cities in the UK and the World.”
