Scottish Borders begins Digital Transformation with Jadu

Scottish Borders Council (SBC) has launched a new website powered by the Jadu Continuum digital platform, to mark the beginning of its digital transformation.

SBC recently announced a major IT outsourcing contract, which will take effect later this year. The council is now facing massive financial pressures and the focus on delivering the new website was supported and implemented by the council's partner for digital service, Jadu.

The new site was developed using internal IT resources, delivered in just a few short months and the decision to shift to Jadu Continuum was driven by a significantly increasing take up of mobile devices. Working in collaboration with creative agency Spacecraft Digital, who created a new mobile responsive design, the new website is designed to meet the changing needs of SBC’s citizens.

Suraj Kika, Chief Executive of Jadu said: “We are thrilled that the council were able to deliver such a rich website on such a limited timescale and proves what is possible with talented internal teams working in collaboration with partners. We are also very proud to be supporting the council at a time they need it most.”

The new site offers local residents a real opportunity to access services of any device, from any location.

Chief Executive Tracey Logan said:

The current site has been upgraded to ensure it meets everyone’s needs. It is now clean, fresh and mobile responsive. We know that more and more people are accessing our website from phones and tablets and this has been a driving factor in the re-design.

Councillor Michael Cook, Executive Member for HR and Corporate Improvement said:

This is about improving services for the people of the Borders. We've not only given it a new look, we've re-written all the pages, made things easier to find and added new features, such as the easy-to- use icons on the homepage.

Jadu provides digital technology for many public sector organisations in Scotland, including Angus Council, The Highland Council, Midlothian Council, East Lothian Council, South Lanarkshire Council, The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency and Scotland’s Rural College, SRUC.

The address for the new website will remain www.scotborders.gov.uk.
